Removal Procedure

Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are con- tained during performance of inspection, mainte- nance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable contain- ers before opening any compartment or disassem- bling any component containing fluids.
Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
1. Turn the battery disconnect switch to the OFF position.
2. Drain the coolant from the cooling system into a
suitable container for storage or for disposal. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, “Cooling System Coolant – Change” for the correct draining procedure.

3. Remove the Diesel Emission Fluid (DEF) line from the Diesel Emission Fluid (DEF) injector. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, “Diesel Exhaust Fluid Lines – Remove and Install” for the correct
procedure.

4. Disconnect harness assembly (2) from DEF
injector (1). Cap the harness assembly.
5. Use Tooling (B) to plug connection on DEF injector ( 1).
6. Disconnect hose assemblies (3) from DEF injector ( 1). Use Tooling (A) to cap hose assemblies (3)
and DEF injector (1).

7. Remove bolts (4) and washers (5) from DEF injector (1).
8. Remove DEF injector (1) and gasket (6) from the Clean Emission Module (CEM). Use a suitable
plug to plug the CEM.
9. Remove seal (7) from DEF injector (1).
