Isuzu Engine (4JH1 type) Exhaust Manifold Removal and Installation Guide

This article mainly introduces the removal and installation of the exhaust manifold of the Isuzu engine (4JH1 type)

Removal
1. Disconnect the battery cable negative terminal.
2. Drain the engine coolant.
3. Remove the turbocharger assembly.
Refer to “Turbocharger Assembly”in Section 6G, Turbocharger.
4. Remove the EGR valve and EGR cooler.(Euro4
specification only)
Refer to “EGR valve and EGR cooler”in Section
6F, Emission control.
5. Remove the exhaust manifold heat protector.(If equipped)

6. Remove the exhaust manifold cover.(Euro2
specification only)
7. Remove the exhaust manifold and gasket.
NOTE: Do not reuse the gasket.

Inspection
·Inspection of the exhaust manifold Inspect the flatness of the installation surface of the manifold and cylinder head.

NOTE: Replace if the flatness is beyond the repair limit.

· Visually check the exhaust manifold for cracks.
Installation
1. Install the exhaust manifold.
NOTE: Do not reuse the gasket.
Tightening torque:27 N-m(2.8 kg-m/20 lb-ft)

2. Install the exhaust manifold cover.(Euro2
specification only)
Tightening torque:51 N-m(5.2 kgm/38 Ib-ft)
3. Install the exhaust manifold heat protector.(If equipped)
Tightening torque:19 N:m(1.9 kg-m/14 lbt)

4. Install the EGR valve and EGR cooler.(Euro4
specification only)
Refer to “EGR valve and EGR cooler”in Section
6F, Emission control.
5. Install the turbocharger assembly.
Refer to “Turbocharger Assembly”in Section 6G, Turbocharger.
6. Refill the engine coolant.
7. Connect the battery cable negative terminal.
