 1. Cause of failure 

 (1) There are certain fault codes or event fault codes that prevent the diesel engine from starting. 

 (2) There is a problem with the ECM connector and speed/timing sensor connector.

  (3) The circuit breaker trips. 

 (4) The speed/timing sensor is misaligned. 

 (5) The fuel system is faulty. 

 (6) The fuel injector does not work.

2. Troubleshooting  

(1) Connect ET and check whether there are current fault codes and/or historical fault codes. Before 

continuing with this procedure, troubleshoot and troubleshoot existing fault codes. When a fault code 

exists, the diesel engine will not start. 

 (2) Check whether ECM connector J1/P1, connector J2/P2, connector J3/P3 and speed/timing sensor 

connector are installed correctly. 

 (3) Check the battery wires from the back of the ECM to the battery compartment, check the wires and

 power relay, and check the power and ground wires of the ECM. Please refer to Section 11.5 of this 

chapter.

(4) Check the circuit breaker. When overheating, circuit breakers may trip. If the circuit breaker trips, 

reset the circuit breaker. 

 (5) After installing the new ECM, the speed/timing sensor should be calibrated. 

 (6) Check the fuel system.
